Let me share a story close to my heart, a tale of friendship, adventure, and the joy of new beginnings. It all started back in 2020, in the bustling city of Shanghai, where I met Micaela at a book club gathering. From the get-go, it was clear we shared a special connection, bonded by our mutual love for the extraordinary and the whimsical.
Micaela, a dreamy Pisces, and I, always drawn to the enchanting, hit it off right away. Over the years, we've been through it all—crossing continents, experiencing life's highs and lows, and embracing the magic of the unknown together.
We both moved on our own ways, across earth and oceans to rediscover familiar grounds, broke free, re-wilded, lost and found friendships and lovers.
One day, while I was on the road, she called me, telling me she was expecting her first child and wanted me to take her pictures.
Obviously, there was no question about it. Maternity photography is so special to me. I consider the transition from maiden to mother something highly sacred, ceremonial, and a rite of passage. To document it is one of the highest forms of art in itself.
A few months later, I took the trip across the Atlantic Ocean to meet her and to celebrate and honor this new chapter of her life.
One morning we woke up at 5 am to head to the beach and see the sunrise - it almost felt ceremonial in a way - the sun rising brightly, welcoming a new day, a new chapter.
There was not a cloud in the sky that morning.
We were on unfamiliar grounds, free and wild, watching friends and lovers share the sunrise with us, as we created new memories for ourselves.
