ShanghaiRen
上海人
PHOTOGRAPHY - DOCUMENTARY - BOOK
ShanghaiRen means 'People from Shanghai' in Chinese and it is a collection of stories of people I look up to, whom I met while living in the city of Shanghai. They've not only been my friends, but they've also been mentors, teachers, caretakers, roommates, colleagues, ... they're family.
Within these pages, they share their wisdom, their points of view on life, purpose, love, work, legacy and so much more.
If these are stories you'd like to read, hold on a bit longer as I am currently preparing this book for publication and print.
In the meantime, find some snippets of our conversations and portraits on my Instagram page.

上海
人
A story that is often told to kids growing up when they learn the character 'ren' 人 (people), is that it represents two sticks leaning against each other, which allows them to stand tall.
I love this symbolism as it refers to our need as humans to be able to rely on others, but also to allow others to rely on us.
In the best case, your people lift you up and have you stand tall in who you are. I know it's the case for me.
